As you read on the home page of this website, you’ll soon realize that many of God’s Names thunder with the Name I AM. When Moses asked God what Name he should use to identify the One Who would rescue His people from slavery, God replied, “I AM.”

Isaiah 52:6
    6Therefore My people shall know what My name is and what it means; therefore they shall know in that day that I AM He who speaks; behold, I AM!

Just as God, the I AM, is, was, and always will be,

God’s Love for you is, was, and always will be.

John 8:58
    58Jesus replied, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, before Abraham was born, I AM.

Biblical scholars estimate that the Abraham mentioned here by Jesus lived approximately 2100 B.C. Take a moment to consider how you would react if a man standing in front of you claimed to have been born before Abraham. The Pharisees to whom Jesus was speaking wanted to stone Jesus for this statement.

Yet, Jesus cannot lie. For more Bible verses backing up this Truth, go to the section called He Never Lies.

As stated on the home page, here are some words which, together with the Name I AM, describe His desire to “Father” you:

  • I AM Your Father, The One Who Sees Your Tears, Who Hears Your Cries, Who Responds;

  • I AM Your Protector; I AM Your Defender, The One Who Rescues and Delivers You;

  • I AM Your True Riches, I AM Your Unceasing Prosperity;

  • I AM The One Who Positions You As My Child, Lavishing My Inheritance Upon You;

  • I AM The One Who Compassionately Prepares And Reserves All Good For You;

  • I AM Your Generous, Creative Provider; I AM Your Stability And Security;

  • I AM Your Peace; I AM Your Rest; I AM Your Hope; I AM Your Fullness of Joy;

  • I AM Your Freedom, Your Doorway Into The Vibrant, Thriving LIFE For Which You Are Destined;

  • I AM The Eternally-Faithful One Who Counsels You And Establishes You With My Favor;

  • I AM The One Who Partners With You, Empowering You With My Wisdom and Abilities;

  • I AM The One Who Accomplishes All I Have Promised You And Your Loved Ones;

  • I AM Your Purpose; I AM Your Significance; I AM Your Legacy; I AM Your Glory.

Before we investigate what other words God Himself uses in the Bible to follow these words, let’s look at similarly-worded verses which He uses to describe His nature and character:

Exodus 34:6
    6And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord! the Lord! a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving-kindness and truth,

Psalm 86:5

    8The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in mercy and loving-kindness.
    9The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works [the entirety of all things created].

With these in mind, now let’s look at other verses which offer other words to further define the thunderous Name of I AM. First, He speaks:

    30Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted;
    31But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

   10For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
   11So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

    9Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, Here I AM. If you take away from your midst yokes of oppression [wherever you find them], the finger pointed in scorn [toward the oppressed or the godly], and every form of false, harsh, unjust, and wicked speaking,

    24But let him who glories glory in this: that he understands and knows Me [personally and practically, directly discerning and recognizing My character], that I AM the Lord, Who practices loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord.
