Ephesians 3:14-15
14For this reason [seeing the greatness of this plan by which you are built together in Christ], I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15For Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named [that Father from Whom all fatherhood takes its title and derives its name].

Philippians 2:9-11
9Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the Name that is above every Name,
10That in (at) the Name of Jesus every knee should [must] bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11And every tongue [frankly and openly] confess and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

As you read the verses in this section focusing on His Names, be sure to note how often His Presence is mentioned in the same verses. Jesus said, for instance:

Matthew 18:
20For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My Name, there I AM in the midst of them.

While going through the verses offered here, you might want to count how many times the two concepts appear together.

Why is God’s Presence tied with His Name? The Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary explains:

"The Name of God is a personal disclosure and reveals His relationship with His people. His Name is known only because He chooses to make it known."

"To the Hebrew mind, God was both hidden and revealed … [awe-inspiring in His unapproachable majesty and power] and [present]."

"Even though he was mysterious, lofty, and unapproachable, He bridged the gap with humankind by revealing His Name."

"The truth of God's character is focused in His Name. …God's Name is His promise to dwell with His people. "

Jesus continues:

Matthew 6:9-13
9Pray, therefore, like this: Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed (kept holy) be Your Name.
10Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven (left, remitted, and let go of the debts, and have given up resentment against) our debtors.
13And lead (bring) us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Matthew 12:17-21
17This was in fulfillment of what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah,
18Behold, My Servant Whom I have chosen, My Beloved in and with Whom My soul is well pleased and has found its delight. I will put My Spirit upon Him, and He shall proclaim and show forth justice to the nations.
    19He will not strive or wrangle or cry out loudly; nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets;
20A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering (dimly burning) wick He will not quench, till He brings justice and a just cause to victory.
21And in and on His Name will the Gentiles (non-Jews) set their hopes.

Matthew 18:1-5
1At that time the disciples came up and asked Jesus, Who then is [really] the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
2And He called a little child to Himself and put him in the midst of them,
3And said, Truly I say to you, unless you repent (change, turn about) and become like little children [trusting, lowly, loving, forgiving], you can never enter the kingdom of heaven [at all].
4Whoever will humble himself therefore and become like this little child [trusting, lowly, loving, forgiving] is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5And whoever receives and accepts and welcomes one little child like this for My sake and in My Name receives and accepts and welcomes Me.

Matthew 18:19-20
19Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven.
20For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My Name, there I AM in the midst of them.

Matthew 19:29-30
29And anyone and everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for My Name's sake will receive many [even a hundred] times more and will inherit eternal life.
30But many who [now] are first will be last [then], and many who [now] are last will be first [then].

Matthew 28:18-20
18Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.
19Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I AM with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).

Mark 9:35-37
35And He sat down and called the Twelve [apostles], and He said to them, If anyone desires to be first, he must be last of all, and servant of all.
36And He took a little child and put him in the center of their group; and taking him in [His] arms, He said to them,
37Whoever in My Name and for My sake accepts and receives and welcomes one such child also accepts and receives and welcomes Me; and whoever so receives Me receives not only Me but Him Who sent Me.

Mark 9:38-41
38John said to Him, Teacher, we saw a man who does not follow along with us driving out demons in Your Name, and we forbade him to do it, because he is not one of our band [of Your disciples].
39But Jesus said, Do not restrain or hinder or forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in My Name will soon afterward be able to speak evil of Me.
40For he who is not against us is for us.
41For I tell you truly, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to and bear the Name of Christ will by no means fail to get his reward.

Mark 11:1-9
1When they were getting near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, He sent ahead two of His disciples
2And instructed them, Go into the village in front of you, and as soon as you enter it, you will find a colt tied, which has never been ridden by anyone; unfasten it and bring it [here].
3If anyone asks you, Why are you doing this? answer, The Lord needs it, and He will send it back here presently.
4So they went away and found a colt tied at the door out in the [winding] open street, and they loosed it.
5And some who were standing there said to them, What are you doing, untying the colt?
6And they replied as Jesus had directed them, and they allowed them to go.
7And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their outer garments upon it, and He sat on it.
8And many [of the people] spread their garments on the road, and others [scattered a layer of] leafy branches which they had cut from the fields.
9And those who went before and those who followed cried out [with a cry of happiness], Hosanna! [Be graciously inclined to Him!] Praised and blessed is He Who comes in the Name of the Lord!

Mark 16:15-20
15And He [Jesus] said to them, Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news (the Gospel) to every creature [of the whole human race].
16He who believes [who adheres to and trusts in and relies on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] and is baptized will be saved [from the penalty of eternal death]; but he who does not believe [who does not adhere to and trust in and rely on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] will be condemned.
    17And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My Name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;
18They will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.
19So then the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and He sat down at the right hand of God.
20And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept working with them and confirming the message by the attesting signs and miracles that closely accompanied [their preaching]. Amen (so be it).

Luke 9:46-48
46But a controversy arose among them as to which of them might be the greatest [surpassing the others in excellence, worth, and authority].
47But Jesus, as He perceived the thoughts of their hearts, took a little child and put him at His side
48And told them, Whoever receives and accepts and welcomes this child in My Name and for My sake receives and accepts and welcomes Me; and whoever so receives Me so also receives Him Who sent Me. For he who is least and lowliest among you all--he is [the one who is truly] great.

Luke 9:49-50
49John said, Master, we saw a man driving out demons in Your Name and we commanded him to stop it, for he does not follow along with us.
50But Jesus told him, Do not forbid [such people]; for whoever is not against you is for you.

Luke 10:17-20
17The seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your Name!
18And He said to them, I saw Satan falling like a lightning [flash] from heaven.
19Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.
20Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are enrolled in heaven.

Luke 10:38-42
38Now while they were on their way, it occurred that Jesus entered a certain village, and a woman named Martha received and welcomed Him into her house.
39And she had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lord's feet and was listening to His teaching.
40But Martha [overly occupied and too busy] was distracted with much serving; and she came up to Him and said, Lord, is it nothing to You that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me [to lend a hand and do her part along with me]!
    41But the Lord replied to her by saying, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things;
42There is need of only one or but a few things. Mary has chosen the good portion [that which is to her advantage], which shall not be taken away from her.

Luke 11:1-4
1Then He was praying in a certain place; and when He stopped, one of His disciples said to Him, Lord, teach us to pray, [just] as John taught his disciples.
2And He said to them, When you pray, say: Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed be Your Name, Your kingdom come. Your will be done [held holy and revered] on earth as it is in heaven.
3Give us daily our bread [food for the morrow].
4And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us [who has offended us or done us wrong]. And bring us not into temptation but rescue us from evil.

Luke 19:28-40
28And after saying these things, Jesus went on ahead of them, going up to Jerusalem.
29When He came near Bethphage and Bethany at the mount called [the Mount of] Olives, He sent two of His disciples,
30Telling [them], Go into the village yonder; there, as you go in, you will find a donkey's colt tied, on which no man has ever yet sat. Loose it and bring [it here].
31If anybody asks you, Why are you untying [it]? you shall say this: Because the Lord has need of it.
32So those who were sent went away and found it [just] as He had told them.
33And as they were loosening the colt, its owners said to them, Why are you untying the colt?
34And they said, The Lord has need of it.
35And they brought it to Jesus; then they threw their garments over the colt and set Jesus upon it.
36And as He rode along, the people kept spreading their garments on the road. [II Kings 9:13.]
37As He was approaching [the city], at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to rejoice and to praise God [extolling Him exultantly and] loudly for all the mighty miracles and works of power that they had witnessed,
38Crying, Blessed (celebrated with praises) is the King Who comes in the Name of the Lord! Peace in heaven [freedom there from all the distresses that are experienced as the result of sin] and glory (majesty and splendor) in the highest [heaven]!
39And some of the Pharisees from the throng said to Jesus, Teacher, reprove Your disciples!
40He replied, I tell you that if these keep silent, the very stones will cry out.

Luke 21:8-15
8And He said, Be on your guard and be careful that you are not led astray; for many will come in My Name [appropriating to themselves the Name Messiah which belongs to Me], saying, I am he! and, The time is at hand! Do not go out after them.
9And when you hear of wars and insurrections (disturbances, disorder, and confusion), do not become alarmed and panic-stricken and terrified; for all this must take place first, but the end will not [come] immediately.
10Then He told them, Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. [2 Chronicles 15:6; Isaiah 19:2.]
11There will be mighty and viol
ent earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences (plagues: malignant and contagious or infectious epidemic diseases which are deadly and devastating); and there will be sights of terror and great signs from heaven.
12But previous to all this, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, turning you over to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be led away before kings and governors for My Name's sake.
13This will be a time (an opportunity) for you to bear testimony.
14Resolve and settle it in your minds not to meditate and prepare beforehand how you are to make your defense and how you will answer.
15For I [Myself] will give you a mouth and such utterance and wisdom that all of your foes combined will be unable to stand against or refute.

John 3:18-21
18He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation--he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the Name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's Name.]
19The [basis of the] judgment (indictment, the test by which men are judged, the ground for the sentence) lies in this: the Light has come into the world, and people have loved the darkness rather than and more than the Light, for their works (deeds) were evil.
20For every wrongdoer hates (loathes, detests) the Light, and will not come out into the Light but shrinks from it, lest his works (his deeds, his activities, his conduct) be exposed and reproved.
21But he who practices truth [who does what is right] comes out into the Light; so that his works may be plainly shown to be what they are--wrought with God [divinely prompted, done with God's help, in dependence upon Him].
