There are five key verses in the Bible which thunder with the absolute power of I AM and reveal Him as Creator of All Things.

1 Corinthians 8:6
6Yet for us there is [only] one God, the Father, Who is the Source of all things and for Whom we [have life], and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through and by Whom are all things and through and by Whom we [ourselves exist].

Revelation 4:11
11Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive the glory and the honor and dominion, for You created all things; by Your will they were [brought into being] and were created.

Colossians 1:16-17
16For it was in Him that all things were created, in heaven and on earth, things seen and things unseen, whether thrones, dominions, rulers, or authorities; all things were created and exist through Him [by His service, intervention] and in and for Him.
17And He Himself existed before all things, and in Him all things consist (are held together).

John 1:3
3All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being.

Romans 11:36
36For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. [For all things originate with Him and come from Him; all things live through Him, and all things center in and tend to consummate and to end in Him.] To Him be glory forever! Amen (so be it).

What was God’s primary way of creating? He spoke His Word.

Psalm 33:6-9
6By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all their host by the breath of His mouth.
7He gathers the waters of the sea as in a bottle; He puts the deeps in storage places.
8Let all the earth fear the Lord [respect and worship Him]; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
9For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

2 Peter 3:5
5For they willfully overlook and forget this [fact], that the heavens [came into] existence long ago by the word of God, and the earth also which was formed out of water and by means of water,

Hebrews 11:3
3By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.

Jesus is known as The Word Made Flesh. Though this is a great mystery that we may not understand until we begin eternity with Him, this basically means that God’s Word became Man. While you will find many more verses in the section named Jesus As Word, here is one key passage:

John 1:1-13
1In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.
2He was present originally with God.
3All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being.
4In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men.
5And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it].
6There came a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7This man came to witness, that he might testify of the Light, that all men might believe in it [adhere to it, trust it, and rely upon it] through him.
8He was not the Light himself, but came that he might bear witness regarding the Light.
9There it was--the true Light [was then] coming into the world [the genuine, perfect, steadfast Light] that illumines every person.
10He came into the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him [did not know Him].
11He came to that which belonged to Him [to His own--His domain, creation, things, world], and they who were His own did not receive Him and did not welcome Him.
12But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name--
13Who owe their birth neither to bloods nor to the will of the flesh [that of physical impulse] nor to the will of man [that of a natural father], but to God. [They are born of God!]

John 1:14
14And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth.

Every word in the Bible is also God’s Word, and it, too, carries the power to create ― the power to create something from nothing. As we just saw:

Hebrews 11:3
3By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the Word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.

With these things in mind, let’s read the first chapter of the Bible:

Genesis 1
1beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned, and) created the heavens and the earth.
2The earth was without form and an empty waste, and darkness was upon the face of the very great deep. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters.
3And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.
4And God saw that the light was good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it; and God separated the light from the darkness.
5And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
6And God said, Let there be a firmament [the expanse of the sky] in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters [below] from the waters [above].
7And God made the firmament [the expanse] and separated the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse. And it was so.
8And God called the firmament Heavens. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
9And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be collected into one place [of standing], and let the dry land appear. And it was so.
10God called the dry land Earth, and the accumulated waters He called Seas. And God saw that this was good (fitting, admirable) and He approved it.
11And God said, Let the earth put forth [tender] vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees yielding fruit whose seed is in itself, each according to its kind, upon the earth. And it was so.
12The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed according to their own kinds and trees bearing fruit in which was their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good (suitable, admirable) and He approved it.
13And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.
14And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be signs and tokens [of God's provident care], and [to mark] seasons, days, and years,
15And let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light upon the earth. And it was so.
16And God made the two great lights--the greater light (the sun) to rule the day and the lesser light (the moon) to rule the night. He also made the stars.
17And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth,
18To rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good (fitting, pleasant) and He approved it.
19And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
20And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly and swarm with living creatures, and let birds fly over the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.
21God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good (suitable, admirable) and He approved it.
22And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the fowl multiply in the earth.
23And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
24And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creeping things, and [wild] beasts of the earth according to their kinds. And it was so.
25And God made the [wild] beasts of the earth according to their kinds, and domestic animals according to their kinds, and everything that creeps upon the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good (fitting, pleasant) and He approved it.
26God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth.
27So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.
28And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.
29And God said, See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the land and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.
30And to all the animals on the earth and to every bird of the air and to everything that creeps on the ground--to everything in which there is the breath of life--I have given every green plant for food. And it was so.
31And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it completely. And there was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.

From the first day to today and on through eternity, God speaks. He speaks His Word and creates something from nothing.

With the words “He creates something from nothing” in your mind, reread Genesis 1:1-2.

Genesis 1:1-2
1 In the beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned, and) created the heavens and the earth.

2The earth was without form and an empty waste, and darkness was upon the face of the very great deep. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters.

Just as the Spirit of God hovered over the earth before it was formed, the Spirit of God is with you right now, and perhaps He would like to create something from nothing in your life.

How does this truth about God’s Spirit — that, since before the time that the earth was formless and void, He has created something from nothing — apply to your life?

He sees and knows you, your personality, your nature, character, motives, intentions, dreams, hopes, desires. He knows you better than you know yourself.

He sees your physical, mental, emotional, relational, spiritual, and financial needs.

He sees who you really are deep within your being, deep within your personality. He sees your essence.

Because He knit you together before you were even born and because He is the One Who breathed life into your being, He sees the circumstances into which you were born and the sins of others against you before and after you were born.

He was continually beside you as you faced the challenges of your childhood.

He’s seen every tear form in your eyes, every sadness, every heartbreak, every moment of despair, every smile, every laugh you laughed, and every joy.

He knows why each situation in your life affected you the way it did in the past, and if it affects you differently now.

He sees all things and knows all things, and He knows exactly what you individually need to experience fullness of joy in your relationship with Him.

He has personalized every aspect of your life for you for your best good.

Jesus said that He would not leave us as orphans. He promised that His Spirit would be with us as His Unceasing Gift.

John 14:18
18 I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless]; I will come [back] to you.

God’s Spirit is always near. However, when you invite God to dwell within your heart, His Spirit is continuously with you. He knows exactly what you need and when you need it.

Be encouraged that in your life He stands ready to speak into your circumstances, your situations, and create good on your behalf. As you’ve read elsewhere on this website, His goodness is His greatest glory. Be sure to read the section called His Goodness if you doubt His motive.

Not only is your Father God wanting to speak new things into your circumstances, but He wants to teach you new things from His Word, the Bible. As you spend time visiting this website, you will very soon learn that God’s Spirit will lead you to precisely the encouraging Word that you need.

Longtime Believers in God often write dates in their Bibles when a verse “jumps out” from the surrounding page and addresses the exact situation about which they’ve been praying. To their dismay, over the years some verses display a parade of dates, proving that Holy Spirit has used one key verse to comfort them through many difficult situations.

In other words, the creative power in God’s Word is never limited to one type of answer!

When you pray for others, when you speak God’s Word in faith and you speak aloud, power is released. One reason for that is that God told Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 1:12
12Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I AM alert and active, watching over My Word to perform it.

You will find many prayers to assist you in praying for others in the sections His Encouraging Prayers. And His Promises For Our Families.

    30Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted;
31But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

10For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

9Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, Here I AM. If you take away from your midst yokes of oppression [wherever you find them], the finger pointed in scorn [toward the oppressed or the godly], and every form of false, harsh, unjust, and wicked speaking,
10And if you pour out that with which you sustain your own life for the hungry and satisfy the need of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in darkness, and your obscurity and gloom become like the noonday.

6Then said I, Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am only a youth.
7But the Lord said to me, Say not, I am only a youth; for you shall go to all to whom I shall send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.
8Be not afraid of them [their faces], for I AM with you to deliver you, says the Lord.
9Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, Behold, I have put My Words in your mouth.
10See, I have this day appointed you to the oversight of the nations and of the kingdoms to root out and pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.

Jeremiah 9:23-24
    23Thus says the Lord: Let not the wise and skillful person glory and boast in his wisdom and skill; let not the mighty and powerful person glory and boast in his strength and power; let not the person who is rich [in physical gratification and earthly wealth] glory and boast in his [temporal satisfactions and earthly] riches;
24But let him who glories glory in this: that he understands and knows Me [personally and practically, directly discerning and recognizing My character], that I AM the Lord, Who practices loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord.

40And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will not turn away from following them to do them good, and I will put My [reverential] fear in their hearts, so that they will not depart from Me.

11I decked you also with ornaments and I put bracelets on your wrists and a chain on your neck.
12And I put a ring on your nostril and earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown upon your head!
13Thus you were decked with gold and silver, and your raiment was of fine linen and silk and embroidered cloth; you ate fine flour and honey and oil. And you were exceedingly beautiful and you prospered into royal estate.
14And your renown went forth among the nations for your beauty, for it was perfect through My majesty and splendor which I had put upon you, says the Lord God.

Ezekiel 34:15
15I will feed My sheep and I will cause them to lie down [to rest], says the Lord God.
